The Inexplicable Universe: Unsolved Mysteries by Prof. Neil deGrasse Tyson (The Great Courses)

Quarks.  Black holes.  Dark matter.  Dark energy.  Alien intelligence.  These are but some of the topics that Dr. Tyson discusses in this short but mind-blowing series of lectures.  This is the kind of thing that makes you scratch your head and stare out at the omniverse in awe and wonder.  None of it is dumbed down by any stretch, but it is explained in such a way that, even if you don’t fully understand it, you do get the basic idea.  Such educational gifts are the hallmark of Dr. Tyson’s teaching style, which is why I was excited to find this title.  Let’s face it, it’s really difficult to believe that anything going on at work or at home really matters once you hear him discuss the head-on collision of entire galaxies.  Amazing series.
