A Holiday Weekend

I never thought I’d say this, but I’m ready to end this 3-day holiday weekend.  There’s been almost nothing about it that hasn’t felt like I was bouncing from one end of the spectrum to the other and back again.  It was like somebody was hitting me around like a ping pong ball.  On the plus side, I got to spend some quality time with friends and enjoyed great food.  To balance that on the cosmic scales, I had to replace the hot water heater in my house.  I could go into elaborate detail of how incredibly stupid that played out, but I’m ready to move past it, and it’s really not a good story to work with.  Let’s just simply say that there was rust corrosion, hard water mineral deposits, and some form of gelatinous goo that was ready to mutate into human form, all of which I had to clean up after the release valve broke off in my hand when I tried to compensate for a leak.  I’ll let your imagination do the rest.  Thank the Force the water tank is in the garage and not in the attic like in some houses.  Ew…

As of now, I’m about $2300 in the hole, mentally numb, and exhausted out of my mind.  Somehow, I feel like I got out easy.  I’m not really sure how that works, but I’m not going to question it.  Sometimes it just works out in the end.  Now I need a vacation to recover from my vacation.
