I’d heard the rumors that Don Henley was bringing back the Eagles. I understood — and opposed the idea — that the only way he could do it was to replace Glenn Frey. That just seemed all kinds of wrong to me.
This morning, the news is official. And I really can’t be bent out of shape about it. This is something that I’ve often wondered about in regards to the Beatles, a “what could this have been like?” sort of thing. Honestly, there’s no replacing Frey. But in this case, I don’t see this as a replacement. I see it as carrying on the legacy.
The lesson here: trust Henley. The man has always had great instincts when it came to music. I think he made the right call here.
