2017 has claimed another legend. Award winning star of radio, stage, and screen, Roy Dotrice is no longer with us.
He’s probably best known for his role as Leopold Mozart in Amadeus, though modern fans will likely recognize him from Hellboy 2, his brief role in Game of Thrones, and as the narrator of that series of audiobooks by George R. R. Martin. For myself, I first got to know him back when Martin was showrunner on a little TV series called Beauty and the Beast, starring Linda Hamilton and Ron Perlman, a series which introduced me to all of these names and more. Before any of that, he was a WWII veteran, having served in the Royal Air Force and was imprisoned in a German POW camp from 1942-45.
My thoughts and prayers go out to those he leaves behind. He was a magnificent actor, and by all accounts a good soul. He’ll be missed.
